After a long wait, the highly anticipated Tamil movie, Singam 2 is finally here. While the first part of this movie in 2010 was well received, the second part has been much awaited by fans all over India. Another reason for fan anticipation in this sequel is that it will be released to theaters with English subtitles. Considering its release in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages simultaneously, it's fair to say that this movie has all the ingredients towards becoming a juggernaut at the box office. Rajamanickam (Rajini) and Shanthan (Saikumar) are friends and business partners. Raja and Shanthan want to come out of their comfort zone by starting a small hotel in Chennai. Katnam (Hem Jayadeep) is the manager of the place and he is excessively devoted to his boss Kamal (Vivek). He spends most of his time managing the hotel and indulging in bad investments like betting on cricket matches, dancing girls etc. One day, when Raja comes to the hotel, he unknowingly disturbs Katnam's bad habits with his exuberance. Raja decides to teach Katnam a lesson and asks him to make a few changes in his life. He takes Katnam to the beach and disciplines him by making him run on the sand. Raja also takes away the control of the hotel from Kamal and appoints his friend Shanthan as the general manager, much to everyone's surprise. Things take a turn when Gauri (Gauthami), daughter of Raja's boss comes to their hotel, following her father's instructions. Also, there is another person in Chennai by the name Ravi (Dev Gill) who was looking for an opportunity like this for quite some time. However, he would not let go of any possibility without taking advantage of it financially. Struggling in the sands of life, Ravi approaches both Raja and Shanthan to help him in getting a job in their hotel. Raja and Shanthan decide to appoint Ravi as a telephone operator, but he has his own plans. He tells them that he needs to take his brother Dr. Sivam (Sivamani) along with him for a few days so that he can take his test and get a government job. While they agree initially, they later refuse when they find out that Sivam is a drunkard and also have plans of making money off of Raja's ex-boss Kamal. To overcome this situation, Ravi lies that Dr. Sivam is a cancer patient and needs to take the test urgently. Ravi also takes away the money of Kamal, which was supposed to be given to his wife as the insurance of their daughter's marriage. Rajamanickam and Shanthan decide to help him, but this time they set up a condition that they will only pay for one of them. They do not know that the one who was nominated by Ravi as his brother, Dr Sivam is really a cheap fraudster who is using Ravi for his own benefits. Soon, Gauri starts falling for Raja and he does not reciprocate her feelings at first.
